We are a community acupuncture clinic. This means you will be getting acupuncture with other people together in one large room. As such, we ask that you be considerate of others. Many people fall asleep when they get acupuncture, so please speak softly and enter and exit the treatment space quietly. Whenever possible arrange your schedule so you do not have to rush to or from your appointment. We kindly ask that you refrain from wearing cologne or perfume, or other strong scents when coming for acupuncture. Also, please refrain from wearing oils on your skin or hair (It ruins our sheets). Please eat a little something an hour or two before your appointment. Wear loose, comfortable clothing if possible. Ideally, there should be easy access to your legs up to mid-thigh, arms including shoulders, and abdomen. Important: Read this part about getting acupuncture in Texas In Texas, acupuncturists have a very limited scope of practice by law, which unfortunately creates a confusing situation for patients. Specifically, unless you are being treated for chronic pain, smoking, substance abuse, or weight loss your acupuncturist is required to determine that you have either: 1) been evaluated by a physician or dentist for the condition being treated within the last 12 months, or 2) been referred by a chiropractor within the last 30 days. Included in your intake paperwork is a Notification to Acupuncturist form that deals with this. In short, if you are coming for reasons other than those listed above you must indicate that you have been evaluated or referred on the Notification to Acupuncturist form provided in our intake packet or we are treating you illegally, at the risk of losing our license.
