Wally Doggett and Kelly Jennings
Founded in 2006 by acupuncturists Wally Doggett and Kelly Jennings, South Austin Community Acupuncture grew out of a desire to create a neighborhood clinic that is a natural expression of ourselves into the community we live in. Wally and Kelly are both graduates of the Academy of Oriental Medicine at Austin (AOMA) and licensed by the State Medical Board to practice acupuncture in Texas.
Wally apprenticed with senior herbalist Dr. Wu Peirong and acupuncturists Allen Cline and James Phillips at Turtle Dragon Health Services while a student. Wally also serves on the board of the Texas Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. He has a degree in music from the University of Texas and has played the drums professionally for many years.
Kelly is a Certified Public Accountant and Licensed acupuncturist. After graduating from AOMA she participated in a study program at Chengdu College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Though not presently in active practice, Kelly keeps South Austin Community Acupuncture on course, in addition to serving as Director of Finance and Accounting at the Academy of Oriental Medicine at Austin.
Mike Sobin studies Oriental medicine at AOMA when he's not playing dominoes. He runs our front desk and manages our database. Mike comes to Oriental medicine by way of a Masters in Public Health from UT Houston School of Public Health. Does not pick up on sarcasm.
Leah Shadwick has been busy with her studies at AOMA and going to China and stuff, but will be rejoining us at our new location. She's a real deal, New York lady.
Wallace Hawkins: Gone but surely not forgotten, Wallace (also known as Wally) graciously helped me (Wally) turn a dilapidated old building into a place of beauty and sanctuary. Wallace's contribution to our first location at 2041 South Lamar is but one of the many jewels he left scattered about in his time on this earth. Sadly, Wallace passed away in 2009. We'll always be grateful for the time we had with him.
