About our clinic Our mission is to be of service to our community by offering affordable, quality alternative health care. South Austin Community Acupuncture is located at 2041 South Lamar, just North of the intersection of Oltorf and South Lamar on the East side of the street. We offer acupuncture affordably in a community setting, and stock a wide range of Chinese medicinal herbs. Hours: 10-6 Tuesday thru Friday 10-4 Saturdays. Acupuncture by appointment. Call (512) 707-8330 to schedule. Cash, Check, Visa, Mastercard, and Discover accepted. Our Sliding Scale You pick what you pay based on your income. Please pay fairly, as it is only with the support of the community that we are only able to provide our services at these prices. We do not verify income. We do what we do in order to make acupuncture affordable and accessible to as many people as possible. Also, acupuncture is very gentle medicine, with maximum benefit often seen from multiple treatments - so we want you to be able to come as often and for as long as needed. And in cases where you might not need multiple treatments, like a common cold for example, acupuncture shouldn't cost an arm and a leg. Acupuncture is one of the oldest and most widely practiced medical procedures in the world. It is gentle, safe, and effective for a wide range of conditions. We believe acupuncture can play an integral role in creating sustainable, community based medicine if it is not placed out of reach of the people who might use it the most.
There is also a $10 paperwork fee with your first appointment. Notes for New Patients
Important note about receiving acupuncture in Texas In Texas, the acupuncture Scope of Practice rules allow us to treat chronic pain, smoking addiction, substance abuse, and weight loss without the patient first being seen by a physician, chiropractor, or dentist. Otherwise, the rules require an acupuncturist to determine that a patient has been evaluated by a physician or dentist for the condition being treated within the last 12 months, or referred by a chiropractor within the last 30 days prior to providing services. So, for us to treat you legally, and not be at risk of losing our license, you either need an evaluation by a doctor or dentist, or a chiropractic referral for the condition being treated and to provide proof to us, or if you cannot provide proof of an evaluation or referral you have to indicate that you have been evaluated or referred on the form provided in our intake packet (State of Texas Notification to Acupuncturist) - otherwise we cannot treat you.
