The sliding scale: The purpose of the sliding scale is to separate the issues of money and treatment. We want you to be able to get acupuncture as often, or as long as you need to in order to get better and stay better.
Regular frequent treatments: Acupuncture is most effective when done frequently. In China it's not uncommon for a patient to receive treatment daily until symptoms are alleviated. But in the U.S., where a private acupuncture treatment typically costs $65-$150, few can realistically afford this.
Group setting: Treating in a group setting is actually a very traditional way of doing acupuncture. At South Austin Community Acupuncture, patients are treated in recliners in a big room together, fully clothed. There is comfort and support in the group setting - even without talking, and it makes it possible for family and friends to come for acupuncture together.
